Dcn. John "Jack" Sullivan

On August 15, 2001 — while watching EWTN — John “Jack” Sullivan was healed of a crippling spinal disorder while praying to Carding John Henry Newman. On July 3 ,2009, Pope Benedict XVI announced that his healing was indeed a miracle, leading to Cardinal Newman’s beatification in Birmingham, England, on September 10, 2010.

Deacon Sullivan was born in 1938 in Everett, MA and has lived most of his life in Massachusetts. In 1969, he married his wife, Carolyn, and was blest with three children. Jack was ordained a permanent deacon on September 14, 2002. His miraculous healing in 2001 enabled him to continue his deaconate formation and eventual ordination. Deacon Sullivan was privileged to act as deacon of Bl. Cardinal Newman’s beatification Mass, proclaiming the Gospel with the Pope as celebrant.

Deacon Sullivan is also in possession of the only 1st class relic of Newman outside of the original Oratory Church in Birmingham, UK. With it, he has been asked to conduct many healing services. Numerous people have received complete healing from a variety of serious illnesses after being blessed by the relic of Bl. Cardinal Newman.

Deacon Sullivan would have been totally disabled and would not have been ordained were it not for Newman’s intercession to God, so it is to Bl. John Henry Cardinal Newman in thanksgiving that he directs his ministries.
